Introduction

Plabric (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a small, independent site about textile and fabric science — fibres and yarns, weaving and knitting, fabric weight and construction, and dyeing and finishing. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and what choices you have when you use our calculators and articles at www.plabric.com.

We deliberately keep data collection small. This policy applies to every visitor, wherever you are, and is written to align with common privacy laws including the GDPR and CCPA. If a specific right applies to you under local law, you can exercise it using the contact details at the end.

Information We Do Not Collect

The textile calculators are built so that the numbers you enter stay on your device:

• Calculator inputs: fabric weights in GSM or oz/yd², yarn counts in denier, tex, or cotton count, lengths and widths, ends and picks per inch, and before/after wash measurements are all processed in your browser and are not transmitted to, stored by, or visible to us.
• No accounts or profiles:we don’t ask you to register, and we don’t build a profile of your activity across sessions.
• No cross-site tracking of our own:we don’t follow your browsing around the web. Third-party advertising, described below, is the exception you can control.

Information We Do Collect

Email and messages:when you email us, use our contact form, or subscribe to updates, we collect your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply to you or to send the updates you asked for, and we never sell it. If you don’t contact us or subscribe, we never have it.

Basic technical data:like most websites, our server and service providers record standard technical information — browser type, operating system, referring page, pages visited, and a truncated or anonymized IP address — to keep the site running, secure, and fast. These logs are kept only as long as needed for operations and security, then discarded.

How We Use Information

• To reply to messages you send us, and to send updates you subscribed to
• To keep the site working, secure, and reasonably quick
• To understand, in aggregate, which calculators and articles are useful so we can improve them
• To meet legal obligations where they apply

We do not sell your personal information or use it to build advertising profiles.

Cookies, Advertising & Analytics

We use only the cookies needed for the site to function, plus the third-party services described here. Plabric is ad-supported: we use Google AdSense to display advertisements, and Google and its partners may set and read cookies to serve and measure ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can review and opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. We may also use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic; it does not identify you individually.

Affiliate Links

Some outbound links to textile tools and supplies — for example fabric scales, GSM cutters, pick glasses, or measuring gear — are affiliate links, including through the Amazon Associates programme. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These links do not require any personal information from you and do not change what we collect; the retailer handles its own checkout and privacy practices.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only where necessary with service providers who help us run the site (such as hosting and, if you email us or subscribe, mail handling) under confidentiality obligations, or where the law requires it to protect our rights or comply with a valid legal process.

Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but keeping our data footprint small — and running the calculators entirely in your browser — is itself a large part of how we protect you.

Children’s Privacy

Plabric is intended for a general audience interested in textiles and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
